Central Bohemia Battlefield

In Czech Republic started to be cold, but in Szeged was still hot weather. So that was the best conditions to go on in hard training. After monday TVO (television afternoon) I went on Tuesday to athletic track together with the people from Szegedi Vasutas Orienteering Club and we took some quick intervals.

On Tuesday I was also for the first time at school on my department of Geoinformatics. We have meet many of teachers, but all of them told me, that we will start "next week" :-)
Then of Wendnesday I wanted to run about 14 km just in slow speed. But it was really boring, so in fact I started to run quick and quick... But still - I need to run more at least 5 km to reach Serbian borders. So maybe next time :-)

As Manasss said - In training there is never enough of intervals, I run on Thursday the same intervals like he. But he is better, so he has run 6 x 1km and I am looser, so I have run just 5 x 1km :-) Still it was good training which hepls me to spend less money in night party...
And becouse I am student with much free time I spent a lot of time to prepare to Saturday sprint competition. I know that it is unfair, becouse many other guys does not have enough time to prepare like me (link just in czech language), but... shit happens :-)

After I was prepared for sprint, i spent rest of Friday in tram, train, underground, bus and many other possible and also impossible transport vehicles. At all it was about 550km and 9 hours of travelling :-D

So Saturday was in sign of running. Very quick running. First was sprint in Konopiště castle and afternoon it was Relay near Kozmice village. I was really prepared for the sprint and felt in a good shape...

Map preparation for the sprint
But... I near one "easy" routechoice I did the biggest mistake. I have bend my map and I did not see uncrossable fence. I realized that I am inside this fence after I saw second end. It that moment I knew I am disqualified. My problem was that first uncrossable fence was about 30cm high and i barely saw them in that overgrown terrain. So I told to organizers in finish to disqualified me.

Real map from competition
I was definitelly not satisfied with this race. Afternoon It was much more better. I did just one (but almost 2 minutes mistake) and I finished on 10th place on my leg. It was good result, but i knew it could be much more better.

Saturday Relay competition

So I ate really good pasta with some meet, I drank 1, 2, 3, 4 beers (finally good czech beer) and went to bed prepared for next competition. It was even better that Saturday competition. This time no bigger mistakes, so finally good competition! Together with my teammates Marek Minář and Tomáš Navrátil we reached 12th position at all. This was one of our best position ever!

Sunday Relay competition
Now I have to tell that I am quite satisfied with this weekend and my plan is to still training hard to show some good race in Czech Long Championships!

Hungarian championships weekend

After first weekend competition I realized that I am starting to be in a good running shape, but it could be much better :-) So last week I tried to train hard. I have perfect conditions for this, because in my school department were some conference so I did not have to go to school... :-)
For the first time I came to athletic track and try its clay. It is not as perfect as tartan track in Olomouc, but at least it has 400 meters and also possibility to use dressing-room.

I really have to say that Hungarian orienteering are good athlets... Of course it is not bit surprise, becouse closest forest is about 30 km far away - so it is easier to train on track.
In some free time between trainings there was time to fight again with bureaucracy (registration for subjects and also registration for some new student cards...)
On Tuesday ordinated map training on map from Saturday competition. There was two shorter courses which were preparation for oncoming Sprint Hungarian Championships.
Sprint training - first round

Sprint training - second round
Both of the trainings were really fast and quite easy :-) But it was about 4km from my flat, so after this I felt really exhausted...

Next few days i rather started slower trainings, because of my legs started hurst...

So on friday afternoon i travel about four hours in car to the competition. In Hungary there does not exist something like embarged areas, so on Fridays evening we were walking throw sprint area just to see terrain. Then we bought some fast food pizza, took some beer and I really looked forward to Sprint competition in Zánka near Balaton.

Sprint competition starts on the morning at 10, becouse there were two rounds - qualification and final. Accord the lenght of courses it was obvious that it will be very quick race. 3,6km with winner time 15 minutes. For me it was good race with just small mistakes where i lost few seconds. There was one funny thing. In our course one control was not working, so everyone has to punched to map. After deep exploration of map I found out there is no "R" boxes. Then I punched somewhere to map. In finish area I told them (after I have found somebody english speaking) that it was not punching. Thay took my mam to control that...

Sprint Hungarian Championships - Qualification
After many minutes of waiting organizers finally published results. In fact I was qualificated to final from first place :-)

I took some steak to lunch and moved to quarantine to wait for my start time... After 40 minutes waiting in quarantine cames somebody with startlist and told us that start will be one hour delayed. For me it means staying in quarantine at all about three hours. But I survived that and try to focus to final race.

I started well, no mistakes and I felt really good in my running form. But... I have burried all of my chances to good result just on one control point. Two minutes stupid big mistake and race was lost. It was just 12 place...

Sprint Hungarian Championships - Final
So I tried to forget about this bad and prepare for Sunday competition - Team Score Hungarian Championships. In Czech Republic we do not have some competitions like this. But the rules are quite easy. Each team has three members. All of them starts at the same time, but there is also startlist, so start is in intervals for teams. On the map there is a same track for all of the members of team. That track is connected by line and control points does not have numbers, but letters. Also there are some controls with numbers. So everybody has to run first to control "A", then take all of the controls with letter in alfabetical order and meanwhile also take controls with numbers. If you still do not understand, click to map bellow :-)

Team Score Hungarian Championships

Hopefully we took the right strategy and splitting the controls with numbers :-) Finally we reachech second place, which means my first medal from Hungarian Championships :-)

Next weekend I will go to Czech competition, so I hope the results will be also good. I have still a lot of time to improve my running skills :-)

Regional South-Plain Individual Orienteering Event

First week in Szeged was really busy. I had many things I had to do. First of all there was necesery to find a flat. I was worried it could be a problem, but finally it was really easy. Next few days all of ERASMUS students starts fight again the bureaucracy. Now, after one week I should have free students cards.. In fact, I have just one, but it is enough.

My room in our flat

After I have settle down I realized that is time to start training hard because autumn part of season is coming very quickly. I register myself for two weekend competitions :-) So at Friday was the right time to look for some nice running place. On google maps i have found some sand road and thought it could be the right one...
The result was almost 9km of running. The most of it I have run with some hungarian man which can speak english about 5 words. So I know he likes to run, cycling and swim :-D

Sandy road near river Tisza (photo from Panoramio -  )

Friday night means welcome party for all of Erasmus students. In fact I have dissapear from party quite early, because I know that otherwise I will definitelly not be able to run on Saturday event - South Hungarian chamiopships in sprint, so it means something like South Bohemia region in sprint (about 100 people in startlist). It was sprint in north-west part of Szeged. Some comments about this competition you can find directly in my map archive.

Sprint in Szeged
Afternoon after the competition there was also some tiome for geocaching...

Funny placing of geocache

After that quite good competition I felt physically quite bad. Maybe it was becouse I was not training more then week and my legs were stiff. And I knew that on Sunday there will be another competition - quite longer and in really sandy terrain. It was again South Hungarian championships but in Long distance. Organization was absolutelly with no problems, there was really sunny weather (32°C)

Event centre in Ásotthalom
so it was perfect race. Moreover we have received free ticket to swimming pool to rest of the day.

Long distance in Ásotthalom

Now, after that long week starts another week. Because of some conference in my school I have one extra free week. So it is time to train hard! Szegedi Vasutas club offers me a membership so I can run it their track and also their map training. Sounds like perfect conditions!
